Trafiltubi has always been specialist of 15CDV6, the most exclusive alloy steel approved for aviation, which remains unsurpassed for performing read high strength structures (tops for its features also the SAE 4130 and BS T45).
The 15CDV6 tubes present very good mechanical properties, with excellent yield strength, excellent weldability (without any appreciable loss of properties during welding), and good resilience. Trafiltubi also produces 15CDV6 pipes at very low thicknesses, also according to the most different shapes and mechanical properties for different needs (including bending).
Furthermore, on request, we can produce 15CDV6 pipes even with different thicknesses along the same tube.
In addition to the classic 15CDV6, Trafiltubi can also provide on request the even more exclusive SCV. That is the same steel (with a similar chemical analysis), but obtained by melting (and thus not by continuous casting), in the original formulation of SCV produced only from the Aubert & Duval Mill. The element that determines the differences in behavior, in this case, is not to be found only in the purity of the chemical composition but, especially, in the grain structure, which in the material obtained by fusion has specific characteristics such as to allow to reach the highest characteristics in terms of mechanical performance and, at the same time, of workability.
This unique option is possible thanks to the agreements reached between Trafiltubi and Aubert & Duval itself, as part of a historical collaboration that, with respect to 15CDV6 / SCV, dates back to the Eighties (see picture 2), and is still ongoing.
