16MnCr5 / 16MC5

16MnCr5 is an excellent casehardening steel alloyed with manganese and chromium, for mechanical applications and general uses. For tube applications it can be used as a substitute for 20MnCr5. Easily workable at high temperatures and weldable, 16MnCr5 is among the most suitable special steels for the manufacture of mechanical elements. It has low hardenability, high hardness of the casehardened and tempered layer, excellent core toughness; for these qualities it is also used as a replacement for nickel and chromium alloyed steels.
